Each month we showcase one of our designers, giving an insight into the 'mind behind the maker'
July: Amy, 'Accessorise with Amy'
Where are you from in Tasmania? The North West Coast.
How did your business start, how long has it been operating? I started my business in 2018 after being diagnosed with a chronic illness that turned my life upside down. My health forced me to stop work and study, but allowed me to discover a creative outlet that was also a form of therapy.
I have always loved jewellery so it only made sense to go down this path of accessory making. I initially began working with polymer clay, however my most recent work has been with resin and alcohol ink. I only ever make one of each piece because I know how it feels to wear/own something truly unique, that no one else has.
When did you join UTO? At the end of 2018.
Do you have any other 'jobs'? My health is still up in the air so I am just focused on making the most of my better days and creating when I can.
What inspires you to create your products? Colour!! Also being able to make a range of accessories so that there is something for everyone.
Any other interests or hobbies? If I am not in my craft room creating, you can find me in the kitchen cooking up a storm or outside playing with my fur babies.
